Boston was blessed with an Indian Summer this weekend – there was definitely no need for a winter coat, but I wanted to share this recent arrival with you guys while an awesome sale is going on! U.S. shoppers can use code SHOPQUICK to take 50% off your purchase at Ann Taylor (including my petite coat & shoes above), ending Monday night. Their sister brand, LOFT, is also having 50% off site-wide with code FRIENDS (check out their petite new arrivals)!
Belted Shawl Collar Wrap Coat
I can never complain when brands bring back old favorites! Read my review of this coat from last year, and see how I styled it with a dressier office look. That charcoal gray is an older color; I received this current “smoke grey heather” color (the one featured in today’s post) thanks to Ann Taylor. Fit is true to size – I’m under 5 feet measuring 32-24-32 at my bust-waist-hips, and my usual xxs petite fits with room to layer underneath.
This coat is straighter-cut throughout the torso, so the belt is important for creating some waist definition. The wool-blend material is lined and weighty, and of course I love that there’s pockets! I wear this during our Boston winters with a thick sweater and a thermal tee underneath. As of right now, this coat is still available in classic black in petite xxs and up … I’m sure small sizes will go quickly, though!
Measurements of xxs petite: 14″ across shoulders, 32″ length, 22.5″ long sleeves, 5.5″ across the middle of the sleeves.
other Petite Coats, also on sale:
- Long Twill trench coat – a longer, more tailored-looking coat in a textured twill material, for under $140 with the current sale. I haven’t tried this one on for fit, but it comes in numerical sizing (10 size options) instead of letter (6 size options) which is usually better for a closer fit.
- Tweed open jacket – availalbe in xxs petite & up in the newer olive color! See it on me in white.
- Camel wrap coat – this is prety similar to my coat, except the wool blend has a fuzzier feel to it and the collar is wider and more angular. Also, the belt is a different material on one side (like a lining fabric). This isn’t a big deal, but I can’t tie it in my usual bow without the lining side showing. I won’t be keeping this since I personally prefer the collar and material on the other wrap coat.
J.Crew tissue turtleneck xxs (old color), Sole Society ankle boots sz 5 /co (last styled here)
